About the Role

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work at Crawshaw Academy, a secondary school based in Pudsey, Leeds.

The role will initially be offered on a day-to-day supply basis, providing flexibility while giving you the opportunity to establish yourself within the school. For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to develop into longer-term work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Graduate or education professional who is confident managing a classroom and passionate about supporting young people.

You will supervise classes during teacher absence, deliver pre-prepared work and ensure students remain focused, engaged and supported throughout the lesson.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absence.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities.
• Maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour confidently and consistently.
• Ensure students remain focused and complete the work provided.
• Support students with their learning and provide guidance where appropriate.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding student engagement, behaviour and completed work.
• Follow school policies relating to behaviour, safeguarding and health and safety.
• Support the wider school team and contribute positively to the school day.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working with secondary-aged students.
• Previous experience within a school, education, youth or similar setting.
• Confidence managing groups of students and maintaining positive behaviour.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and professional approach.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
• Confidence working independently and using initiative.
• Strong organisational skills and reliability.
• A flexible and adaptable approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people's education and development.
