SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary In-House Provision

Leeds | Full-Time | September 2026

NextGen Teachers are recruiting an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Leeds from September.

This role will be based within the school's dedicated in-house SEN provision, supporting pupils who require a more personalised and structured learning environment while remaining part of a mainstream school community.

You will work with children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties, helping them access learning, develop independence and successfully engage with school life.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils within the school's in-house SEN provision
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting children with Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Delivering structured and personalised learning activities
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Using visual resources, sensory strategies and consistent routines
  • Helping pupils build confidence and independence
  • Supporting integration into mainstream classes where appropriate
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support team

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs
  • Is calm, patient, nurturing and resilient
  • Can build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • Understands the importance of individualised SEN support
  • Is confident supporting children who may struggle within a mainstream classroom
  • Can commit to a full-time position from September

Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or Behaviour Support Worker would be particularly relevant.
