SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary In-House Provision
Leeds | Full-Time | September 2026
NextGen Teachers are recruiting an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Leeds from September.
This role will be based within the school's dedicated in-house SEN provision, supporting pupils who require a more personalised and structured learning environment while remaining part of a mainstream school community.
You will work with children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties, helping them access learning, develop independence and successfully engage with school life.
The Role
- Supporting pupils within the school's in-house SEN provision
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting children with Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs
- Delivering structured and personalised learning activities
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
- Using visual resources, sensory strategies and consistent routines
- Helping pupils build confidence and independence
- Supporting integration into mainstream classes where appropriate
- Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support team
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs
- Is calm, patient, nurturing and resilient
- Can build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Understands the importance of individualised SEN support
- Is confident supporting children who may struggle within a mainstream classroom
- Can commit to a full-time position from September
Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or Behaviour Support Worker would be particularly relevant.
