Learning Support & Wellbeing Assistant

Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Pay: £115 per day (Temporary rate)
Permanent Salary: £21,000-£25,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with one evening per week until 6:00pm (day to be confirmed)

We are working with a specialist independent school in Crawley to recruit a passionate and supportive Learning Support & Wellbeing Assistant to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a specialist learning provision supporting young people who experience barriers to education, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.

The school takes a nurturing, relationship-centred approach, creating a safe and supportive environment where young people can build confidence, develop independence and achieve their potential.

You will work across both the specialist provision and wider school, providing a combination of 1:1 support, small-group interventions and classroom-based learning support.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for young people with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Support learners with autism, ADHD, anxiety, EBSA and emotional regulation difficulties.
  • Help students access the curriculum, including English and Maths up to GCSE level.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Adapt learning activities and deliver personalised interventions to meet individual needs.
  • Support emotional wellbeing, using calm, patient and nurturing approaches.
  • Work closely with teachers, families and the wider SEND team to support student progress.
  • Contribute to creative activities, enrichment opportunities and the development of the specialist provision.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly neurodivergent learners.
  • An understanding of autism, ADHD, anxiety and SEMH needs.
  • Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support.
  • Strong English and Maths skills, with the confidence to support learning up to GCSE level.
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • Someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education.
  • A relevant degree or qualification in Education, Psychology or SEND would be beneficial but is not essential.

Why Apply?

  • £115 per day initially, with a permanent salary of £21,000-£25,000.
  • Temp-to-perm opportunity offering long-term stability.
  • Work within a specialist independent school with a unique approach to education.
  • Longer school holidays compared to many mainstream settings.
  • Supportive, passionate and creative team.
  • Excellent opportunities for training, professional development and career progression as the provision continues to grow.
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's lives.

Location & Transport:

Based in Crawley, the school is accessible by public transport, making it a great opportunity for candidates travelling from Crawley and the surrounding areas.

If you have experience in education, SEND support, psychology, youth work or a similar setting and are looking for a rewarding opportunity with scope to develop your career, we would love to hear from you.
