NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Leeds to recruit a full-time KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to start in January 2026. This role will involve supporting children across Year 1 and Year 2 with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism, ADHD, and communication needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young learners at a crucial stage of their development.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN across KS1
Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language, and communication needs
Assisting the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning delivery
Supporting behaviour regulation, emotional development and engagement in learning
Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions
Creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children with SEN, particularly within KS1 or primary settings
A patient, calm and proactive approach
A good understanding of Autism and ADHD in early years/KS1
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Relevant qualifications or SEN training are desirable but not essential
