Behaviour Specialist - KS2 Teaching Assistant
NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Specialist to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Leeds (LS9) from September. This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential both academically and emotionally.
The successful candidate will work within Key Stage 2, providing targeted support to pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, building strong relationships with pupils, and helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
The Role
- Support pupils across KS2 with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and confidence
- Work closely with class teachers and the school's SENCO to implement behaviour support strategies
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation within the classroom
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions where required
- Encourage pupils to develop independence, resilience and positive learning behaviours
- Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews and support plans
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children in a school, alternative provision, youth work, care, or similar setting
- Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and additional needs
- Calm, patient and resilient with excellent communication skills
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
- A genuine interest in supporting children's wellbeing and development
