Pay: From £92.60 per day
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs?
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming all-through SEN school in Leeds that caters for pupils from primary through to secondary age with a wide range of complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing tailored support to a pupil with additional needs within a highly supportive specialist setting. The school is looking to trial suitable candidates over the coming weeks, allowing you to secure your role ahead of the new academic year.
The Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex SEND needs throughout the school day
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised learning and support
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Support communication, emotional regulation, independence, and engagement in learning
- Implement consistent behaviour support strategies and follow individual support plans
- Encourage positive social interactions and build strong, trusting relationships
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
About You
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a school or specialist setting
- Experience working with pupils with Autism, complex learning difficulties, communication needs, or associated additional needs
- Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, nurturing, and flexible approach to supporting learning and wellbeing
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
