Salary: £27,122 per annum (paid 52 weeks)
Contract: Full-Time, 12 -Weeks Temp-to-Perm

We are recruiting a Primary Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Horsham, supporting pupils across the primary age range. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children who require additional support, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing and highly supportive environment.

The school provides a personalised approach to learning, focusing on communication, emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive engagement in education.

The Role

As a Primary Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop important social and life skills.

You will support children both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience tailored to individual needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with classroom learning and curriculum activities
  • Supporting communication, social skills, and emotional development
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
  • Assisting with personalised learning programmes and intervention sessions
  • Helping pupils develop routines, self-help skills, and independence
  • Building positive, professional, and consistent relationships with children
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Following safeguarding procedures and participating in ongoing training and development

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Nursery Practitioner, or similar
  • Has experience supporting children with SEN, SEND, Autism (ASC), SEMH, or additional learning needs
  • Is patient, resilient, and nurturing in their approach
  • Can build positive relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Is confident supporting emotional wellbeing and behaviour
  • Has a genuine passion for helping children achieve positive outcomes
  • Is interested in developing a long-term career within SEN or specialist education
