Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - Croydon
Location: Croydon, South London
Salary: £22,100 per annum
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday | Term Time Only

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Learning Support Assistant looking to work within a specialist secondary school focused on academic achievement and student wellbeing?
We are recruiting a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist SEN school in Croydon that delivers a structured, GCSE-focused curriculum for students with additional learning needs.

The Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping them engage positively with learning and achieve their academic potential.
The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism (ASC / ASD)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- ADHD
- Speech & Language difficulties
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide tailored classroom support and help students build confidence, resilience, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students across GCSE and core curriculum subjects
- Delivering 1:1 and small group intervention support
- Assisting with behaviour regulation and classroom engagement
- Supporting pupils with SEN / SEND to access learning effectively
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Helping create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Building strong and consistent relationships with students
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced as a Teaching Assistant, LSA, Behaviour Mentor, or Support Worker
- Passionate about SEN, SEND, SEMH, and inclusive education
- Confident supporting secondary-aged students
- Calm, resilient, and proactive in their approach
- Committed to helping young people achieve academically and personally
- A strong communicator who works effectively within a team
