We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Reigate, working with pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), Autism (ASC), SEND, and associated learning difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers, Care Workers, Youth Workers, or mainstream school staff looking to transition into specialist SEN education and build a long-term career within the sector.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally within a structured, therapeutic, and nurturing environment.

You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills, and engagement with learning through positive relationships and consistent support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support
  • Supporting classroom learning, engagement, and participation
  • Helping implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
  • Creating a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
  • Building strong and positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers and SEN teams
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning, emotional, or personal care needs where required
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and social development

The Ideal Candidate

  • SEN Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants
  • Mainstream Teaching Assistants looking to move into SEND / SEMH
  • Support Workers, Care Workers, Youth Workers, or Behaviour Mentors
  • Psychology, Sociology, or Criminology graduates
