NextGen Teachers are currently supporting a SEN School based in Leeds who are seeking to recruit a caring, resilient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child's educational journey by helping them access learning, develop independence, and feel safe, included and understood within a supportive school environment.

About the Role

You will work closely with a specific pupil, supporting their learning, communication, emotional regulation and personal development. You will be part of a skilled and supportive SEN team, working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with complex needs
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities
  • Support communication using appropriate strategies (e.g. visuals, Makaton, PECS where applicable)
  • Assist with personal care needs if required
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and parents/carers
  • Maintain accurate observations and support records

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience working with children with SEN, autism or complex needs (preferred but not essential)
  • Is patient, calm, and emotionally resilient
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with children
  • Is flexible and willing to learn new strategies
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Is committed to inclusive education and child-centred support
