Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN School (Dyslexia & Literacy Support)
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term / Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: September 2026
Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with an interest in Dyslexia, literacy intervention, and specialist SEND education?
We are recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and well-resourced primary SEN school in Crawley. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, communication needs, and additional learning needs within a nurturing and highly specialised environment.
This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about helping children build confidence, develop literacy skills, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff to deliver tailored classroom support and targeted literacy interventions.
You will support pupils through structured phonics, reading, writing, and communication activities while helping create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, and additional SEND needs
- Delivering 1:1 and small group literacy and phonics interventions
- Supporting reading, writing, spelling, and communication development
- Assisting with differentiated and adapted classroom activities
- Encouraging pupil confidence, engagement, and independence
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist support staff
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Literacy Support Assistant
- Has an interest in Dyslexia support, phonics, literacy intervention, or SEND
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Is calm, patient, and nurturing in their approach
- Builds positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Works effectively as part of a supportive team
- Is motivated to develop specialist SEN and literacy support experience
