Teacher - Specialist SEND Class

Location: Batley, Kirklees
Salary: £28,000 - £39,520 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: Asap

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join our school and lead a brand-new specialist class supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about SEND education and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.

About the Class

The new class will support pupils with a range of complex needs, including:

• Autism
• Non-verbal communication needs
• Intimate and personal care requirements
• Down syndrome
• A range of additional learning and developmental needs

You will be supported by a dedicated team and will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every pupil can develop, communicate and achieve their potential.

The Role

As the class teacher, you will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
• Supporting pupils' communication, independence and personal development
• Working closely with teaching assistants, families and external professionals
• Creating a positive, inclusive and structured classroom environment
• Monitoring progress and celebrating individual achievements
• Supporting pupils with their personal care needs where required
• Developing strong, positive relationships with pupils and helping them thrive

What We're Looking For

We would love to hear from teachers who have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience working within SEND, special education or a similar setting
• A patient, caring and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs reach their potential

Experience of working with complex SEND needs is highly desirable, but we would also welcome applications from teachers who are passionate about developing their SEND experience.
