The Role:

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, highly personalised learning experiences within a small Key Stage 1 Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) class, supporting non-speaking autistic learners with a range of complex learning, communication and care needs.

The successful candidate will have a nurturing, patient and inclusive approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment. You will be confident in adapting lessons and communication approaches to meet individual needs, promoting engagement, independence and progress through appropriate sensory, visual and communication strategies.

You will work closely with the wider staff team, families and relevant professionals to ensure pupils' educational, communication, personal care and wellbeing needs are met effectively. Experience of working with autistic children, non-speaking learners and pupils with complex care needs would be highly desirable.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover position, with the potential duration of the contract dependent on the successful candidate's experience and performance.

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Have experience teaching within an SEN school and KS1 ASC class is desirable
• Are passionate about supporting children's learning and development
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
• Have strong classroom management skills
• Are reliable, professional and enthusiastic
• Are committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment
