SEN Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision (BD22)
Location: BD22, West Yorkshire
Setting: Specialist Provision (SEMH / Complex Needs)
Contract Type: Supply, Term Time only
Start Date: ASAP
NextGen Teachers is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist provision in the BD22 area, seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a supply basis.
This provision caters for pupils with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), ASD, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with EHCPs and complex needs
- Help deliver individualised learning plans designed to meet a wide range of SEND profiles
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour through positive reinforcement and clear boundaries
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to meet the holistic needs of each child
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in specialist or alternative settings
- A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour and emotional needs
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Team Teach or similar behaviour management training (desirable but not essential)
- An enhanced DBS on the update service
- The right to work in the UK
- Two professional references
