Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs?

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Bradford (BD5).

The school provides a nurturing, inclusive and specialist learning environment for young people with a range of additional needs. We are looking for a patient, compassionate and confident individual with experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly those with autism and communication needs.

The Role:

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide bespoke and specialist support tailored to the individual needs of pupils.
  • Support students with a range of SEN and complex additional needs.
  • Help develop and deliver personalised learning activities based on each pupil's abilities and needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.
  • Support pupils who may display challenging behaviours, using appropriate strategies to promote positive outcomes.
  • Provide support with personal care where required.
  • Be confident and willing to use the school's hydrotherapy pool as part of the pupils' support and learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence, independence and development.

The role is due to start ASAP and will initially be offered on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to become a long-term or permanent position for the right candidate.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, compassionate and understanding.
  • Confident supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Experienced in managing and supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Comfortable working with pupils with autism and communication needs.
  • Flexible and willing to support with personal care and hydrotherapy.
  • Passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.
  • A strong team player who can work effectively alongside teachers and SEN professionals.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Teaching Assistant is highly beneficial.
  • Experience working within a secondary or specialist education setting is desirable.
  • Minimum Grade 4/C in GCSE English and Maths.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
