NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Supply SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist secondary setting in Leeds.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning in a specialist educational environment.
The Role
As a Supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support secondary-aged students with a range of complex Special Educational Needs, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual student needs
- Supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language difficulties, and other complex needs
- Encouraging communication, independence, emotional regulation, and social development
- Assisting with personalised learning activities and adapting resources where required
- Supporting positive behaviour using consistent and nurturing approaches
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students to help them thrive both academically and personally
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a specialist school or alternative provision
- Is patient, resilient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to providing high-quality support for students with complex needs
- Has a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential
