We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive specialist setting in Leeds. This is a rewarding opportunity to become part of a nurturing and values-driven team that is committed to helping every pupil reach their full potential.
The role involves supporting children and young people with Autism and a range of additional needs, both inside and outside of the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence, regulate emotions and engage positively with learning in a safe and structured environment.
This position would suit someone who is caring, proactive and adaptable, with a genuine passion for SEND education and supporting vulnerable young people. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND to enable full access to learning
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to support emotional wellbeing and engagement
- Deliver pre-planned learning activities and adapt them to meet individual needs and abilities
- Support behaviour management using positive and consistent strategies
- Assist with personal care and health needs, including medical and therapeutic interventions where required (full training provided)
- Implement EHCPs, behaviour support plans and care plans effectively
- Monitor, record and report on pupil progress, achievements and wellbeing
- Support pupils during lessons, break times, enrichment activities and educational visits
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external professionals
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where pupils can flourish
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, Autism or complex needs (desirable)
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
- A calm, patient and resilient approach, even in challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- A willingness to support personal care and medical needs where required
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- A proactive attitude towards training and professional development
