Supply HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Location: Leeds & Bradford
Contract: Flexible Supply (Full-Time & Part-Time Available, Term Time Only)
Hours: Typically 8:30am - 3:30pm (may vary by school)
Start Date: Immediate start available
Pay: £110 minimum per day

NextGen Teachers are delighted to be recruiting experienced and adaptable HLTAs for a range of supply roles across Leeds and Bradford. We work in partnership with a wide network of Primary, Secondary, and SEN schools, offering flexible opportunities including day-to-day supply and long-term placements to suit your availability and career goals.

This role is ideal for confident HLTAs who enjoy variety, can quickly build rapport in new settings, and are passionate about supporting pupils' learning and development.

About the Role

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher (PPA cover)
  • Provide high-quality classroom support across a range of year groups and settings
  • Assist with planning and preparation of learning activities where required
  • Adapt resources and approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL pupils
  • Provide targeted academic, behavioural, and pastoral support
  • Support assessment of pupil progress and feedback to teaching staff
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Quickly build positive relationships with pupils and staff in a variety of school settings

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Proven experience working within schools (Primary, Secondary, or SEN)
  • A strong understanding of inclusive practice and supporting diverse learning needs
  • Confidence leading whole-class learning when required
  • A flexible, proactive, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English, Maths, and Science
  • Relevant HLTA qualification
