About the Role

NextGen Teachers are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Leeds, who are looking to appoint an Inclusion & Behaviour Support Assistant to join their dedicated team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils across the primary age range who require additional help with their social, emotional and behavioural development. You'll work with a variety of children, supporting them both within mainstream classrooms and the school's onsite inclusion provision, helping them access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential.

The school has a strong focus on inclusion and early intervention, with a supportive leadership team and excellent opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

• Work within mainstream classrooms and the school's onsite inclusion provision, depending on the needs of individual pupils.

• Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils regulate their emotions and engage successfully in learning.

• Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions to support behaviour, wellbeing and emotional development.

• Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies.

• Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, confidence and independence.

• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour and interventions.

• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all pupils.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a primary school, SEN, behaviour support or pastoral setting.

• Has experience working with pupils who present with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or other behavioural needs.

• Is calm, patient and resilient, with excellent behaviour management skills.

• Can build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations and consistent boundaries.

• Has a genuine passion for supporting children to succeed both academically and emotionally.

• Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

• Holds GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
