At NextGen Teachers, we're proud to connect passionate education professionals with rewarding opportunities across West Yorkshire. We are currently recruiting for a full-time 1-2-1 Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team at a Specialist SEN school in Leeds, starting this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support secondary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH). You'll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support secondary-aged students with ASD, ADHD, and behavioural needs both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to help students engage with learning.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage focus, resilience, and emotional regulation.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider pastoral team to implement individual support plans.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using positive and proactive strategies.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.
