1:1 Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 4-16 years
Start Date: September
Salary: £19500 - £20,500 (depending on experience)

Do you have previous experience supporting pupils with Complex Communication and Autism needs? We're looking for a candidate that is calm, firm and experienced with supporting a student in a 1:1 complex behaviour support role. This is a wonderful opportunity to work within an extremely supportive school, with strong room for growth and career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with complex SEND (including autism, SLD, PMLD, and communication needs) in accessing learning
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver adapted and personalised learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, following individual EHCP targets
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
  • Support pupils' personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment

What we're looking for:

  • A caring, patient and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience working with children or young people with autism, learning difficulties, or communication needs (desirable but not essential)
  • A positive, calm approach to behaviour support and emotional regulation
  • Good communication skills when working with pupils, colleagues, and families
  • A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to pupils' individual needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
