NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher on behalf of a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs school in Wakefield.

This is a permanent opportunity starting in September 2026, ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

The school caters for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication needs, and associated social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The Role:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, parents, and external agencies
  • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and personal development
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and annual review meetings
  • Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour, and attendance
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), either within a specialist or mainstream setting
  • A strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and inclusive practice
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
