1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Batley
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Batley.

This full-time opportunity involves supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis who has additional needs, which may include Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, communication difficulties, or learning disabilities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with SEN and is looking to make a genuine difference within an inclusive and supportive school setting.

The Role:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs
  • Support the pupil both inside and outside of the classroom environment
  • Assist with learning activities, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Adapt support strategies to meet the pupil's individual needs and learning style
  • Help the pupil remain engaged, focused, and confident throughout the school day
  • Support positive behaviour and encourage independence
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous SEN experience within a school or similar setting is essential
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs is highly desirable
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt quickly and work proactively
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
