Supply Teaching Assistant - Primary, Secondary & College
Location: Croydon, South London
Pay: £95-£110 per day, depending on experience and setting
Contract: Short-Term & Long-Term Supply

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN TA, Behaviour Mentor or Support Worker looking for flexible work in education?
NextGen Teachers are recruiting Supply Teaching Assistants to work across Primary, Secondary and College settings in Croydon, supporting pupils and young people with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
We have opportunities available for both short-term supply and longer-term placements, making this a great option whether you are looking for flexibility or hoping to secure a consistent role within a school.
The Role
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you could be supporting pupils across a range of educational settings, including mainstream schools, specialist SEND provisions and SEMH environments.
Depending on the setting, you may support pupils with:
- Autism (ASC / ASD)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- ADHD
- Speech and Language difficulties
- Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties
- Behavioural and emotional needs
- Complex or additional learning needs
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils in Primary, Secondary or College settings
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils access learning and remain engaged in lessons
- Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Working alongside teachers and wider support teams
- Building positive and consistent relationships with pupils
- Adapting your approach to meet individual needs
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
The Ideal Candidate
We are interested in candidates with experience as a:
- Teaching Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant
- Learning Support Assistant
- Behaviour Mentor
- Support Worker
- Residential Support Worker
- Youth Worker
- Care Worker
- Graduate looking to start a career in education
Previous experience supporting SEND, SEMH, behaviour or additional needs is beneficial, but we are also happy to speak with candidates who have relevant transferable experience from care, residential, youth or support settings.
You will need to be reliable, adaptable and confident working with children and young people across different environments.
