NextGen Teachers are recruiting Secondary Teaching Assistants for a range of schools and specialist settings across Crawley and the surrounding areas, with opportunities available from September 2026.
With roles paying £90-£110 per day, there are opportunities for candidates at different levels of experience, from experienced SEN professionals to those looking to take their first step into secondary education.
About the Roles
Our secondary Teaching Assistant vacancies vary depending on the school and setting. You could be supporting pupils in a mainstream secondary school, specialist SEND provision, SEMH setting or alternative provision.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils aged 11-16 on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Supporting students with SEND, SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD and additional learning needs
- Helping pupils access the secondary curriculum
- Providing classroom and learning support
- Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement
- Delivering small-group interventions
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and other professionals
- Helping create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
Who We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates with:
Experience supporting secondary-aged young people is desirable.
Experience with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour or additional needs is also highly valued, depending on the role.
However, transferable experience is welcomed. If you've worked with young people in care, residential settings, youth work, sports, mentoring or support work, we'd be keen to speak with you.
