Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN School (Dyslexia & Literacy Support)
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term / Temp-to-Perm

Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with an interest in Dyslexia, literacy intervention, and SEND education?
We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary SEN school in Crawley. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, and additional learning needs within a nurturing specialist setting.
The school is looking for someone engaging, patient, and enthusiastic about helping children develop confidence, improve literacy skills, and achieve success both academically and personally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist SEN staff to support pupils with Dyslexia and associated learning difficulties through classroom support, targeted interventions, and structured literacy activities.
You will play an important role in helping pupils build confidence with reading, writing, phonics, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with Dyslexia, literacy difficulties, and SEND needs
- Delivering 1:1 and small group literacy interventions
- Supporting phonics, reading, writing, and communication development
- Assisting with differentiated and adapted classroom activities
- Encouraging confidence, engagement, and independence
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Literacy Support Assistant
- Has an interest in Dyslexia support, phonics, or literacy intervention
- Is passionate about supporting children with SEN / SEND
- Is calm, patient, and encouraging in their approach
- Builds positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Works well as part of a supportive team
