1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Batley
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming primary school in Batley.

This full-time role is to support a child in KS1 who is nonverbal autistic. The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil, helping to provide consistent, nurturing and personalised support throughout the school day.

This is a long-term opportunity starting ASAP and would suit candidates with strong SEN experience and a patient, adaptable approach.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil
• Supporting a nonverbal autistic child with communication and sensory needs
• Assisting with learning, play-based activities and emotional regulation
• Supporting communication, engagement and social development
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
• Creating a safe, positive and engaging learning environment

Requirements:

• Previous SEN experience is essential (preferably in an SEN provison)
• Experience supporting children with autism and communication needs is highly desirable
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
