Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support | SEN / SEND / ASD) - Crawley
Location: Crawley, West Sussex (Mainstream Primary School)
Pay: £90-£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday (term time only)
Contract: Long-term, ongoing
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker looking for a rewarding 1:1 role in a primary school?
We are recruiting a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Crawley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a pupil on a 1:1 basis, supporting their academic progress, emotional development, and confidence in the classroom.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN / SEND), including Autism (ASD/ASC) and additional learning needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support tailored to individual learning needs
- Supporting access to the primary curriculum (literacy, numeracy, and classroom activities)
- Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Adapting learning materials and activities to improve engagement
- Building a positive, trusting, and supportive relationship with the pupil
- Supporting social skills, independence, and confidence
The Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in education, care, or support work.
You will be:
- Experienced as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker
- Knowledgeable or interested in SEN, SEND, Autism (ASD), or additional needs
- Calm, patient, and nurturing in your approach
- Proactive and able to adapt to different learning needs
- A strong communicator who works well within a team
- In possession of an Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain one)
