SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD & Complex Needs

Leeds | Full-Time | Permanent Contract | Start ASAP

NextGen Teachers are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a SEN school based in Leeds for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEN provision on a full-time, permanent basis starting ASAP.

This rewarding role involves supporting a primary-aged child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex needs within a nurturing and supportive school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their full potential.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with ASD and complex learning needs
  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support strategies
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support with sensory and behavioural needs where required

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
