SEN Teacher
Teacher - Autism & Complex Needs
Location: Liverpool
Salary: £37,101 - £45,352 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting children aged 5-11 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional Special Educational Needs. This is a nurturing, highly supportive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential, with learning tailored to individual needs and abilities.
Pupils are supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including teaching staff, support assistants, therapists, and family liaison professionals. This collaborative approach ensures that children receive holistic support to help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, personalised teaching and learning for pupils with ASC and complex SEN needs
- Plan and implement lessons in line with individual learning targets and school expectations
- Create a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Use assessment and observation to monitor and support pupil progress
- Apply consistent and effective behaviour management strategies
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and families/carers
- Ensure teaching is child-centred and responsive to individual needs and abilities
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning culture
- Use appropriate technologies to enhance learning experiences
- Maintain strong safeguarding, equality, and health & safety practices
- Participate in planning, assessment, reporting, and review processes
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience working with children with ASC and/or complex SEN needs
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to teaching
- Strong classroom management skills in specialist or inclusive settings
- A commitment to high expectations and inclusive education
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- A reflective and proactive approach to professional development
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve meaningful progress
