SEN/SEMH Secondary Teacher - Wakefield (QTS Required)

Location: Wakefield
Contract: Term-time only, Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 - £39,000 per year (dependent on experience)
Start date: Available ASAP

Next Gen Teachers are looking for an experienced and passionate SEN and SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a supportive specialist provision in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity for a reflective practitioner who wants to make a real difference to young people with additional needs, helping them achieve both academically and personally in a structured, nurturing environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to KS3 and KS4 learners with SEN and SEMH needs

  • Implement trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches to support behaviour and engagement

  • Develop personalised learning plans and adapt lessons to meet individual needs

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external professionals

  • Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive classroom environment

  • Monitor progress, record assessment data, and contribute to review meetings

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

  • Experience in SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is desirable

  • Strong behaviour management skills and ability to de-escalate situations effectively

  • Resilient, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people

  • Ability to tailor teaching to varying abilities and complex needs

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils

  • Available to start ASAP
