SEN/SEMH Secondary Teacher
SEN/SEMH Secondary Teacher - Wakefield (QTS Required)
Location: Wakefield
Contract: Term-time only, Monday to Friday
Salary: £28,000 - £39,000 per year (dependent on experience)
Start date: Available ASAP
Next Gen Teachers are looking for an experienced and passionate SEN and SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a supportive specialist provision in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity for a reflective practitioner who wants to make a real difference to young people with additional needs, helping them achieve both academically and personally in a structured, nurturing environment.
Role Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to KS3 and KS4 learners with SEN and SEMH needs
Implement trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches to support behaviour and engagement
Develop personalised learning plans and adapt lessons to meet individual needs
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive classroom environment
Monitor progress, record assessment data, and contribute to review meetings
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
Experience in SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is desirable
Strong behaviour management skills and ability to de-escalate situations effectively
Resilient, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people
Ability to tailor teaching to varying abilities and complex needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils
Available to start ASAP
