Behaviour Support Worker (Specialist School)

NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a specialist school in Keighley to recruit a Behaviour Support Worker to join their team on an initially short-term/supply basis, with potential for the role to be extended into a longer-term opportunity.

About the School

This specialist provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and SEN. The school is committed to providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to regulate behaviour, develop positive relationships, and re-engage with learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:

  • Support pupils both in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with teaching staff to help manage behaviour and promote positive engagement
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils who require additional behavioural or emotional support
  • Implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans
  • Help pupils develop coping strategies, resilience, and positive routines

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, SEMH, or additional needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive way
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Two professional references
  • Experience within a specialist school, alternative provision, or similar setting is highly desirable, though not essential for the right candidate
