About the School

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Huddersfield that supports pupils aged 5-18 with SEMH needs and associated conditions, including Autism, ADHD, attachment difficulties, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and sensory processing needs.

With small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and excellent staff-to-pupil ratios, the school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported to achieve both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs.

  • Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs to achieve their learning goals.

  • Use effective behaviour management and restorative approaches.

  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.

  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and achievement.

  • Support pupils during enrichment activities, trips, and non-classroom times.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Previous teaching experience within a school setting.

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour.

  • Strong behaviour management skills.

  • A calm, resilient, and nurturing approach.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
