About the Role

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a confident, reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in Pudsey, Leeds.

The role will initially be offered on a day-to-day supply basis, providing flexibility while giving you the opportunity to build strong relationships within the school. For the right candidate, there is potential for the position to develop into longer-term work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, graduate or education professional who is confident managing a classroom and passionate about supporting young people.

You will supervise classes during teacher absence, deliver pre-prepared work and ensure pupils remain focused, engaged and supported throughout their lessons.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absence.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities.
• Maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour confidently and consistently.
• Ensure pupils remain focused and complete the work provided.
• Support students with their learning and provide guidance where appropriate.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding student engagement, behaviour and completed work.
• Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety.
• Support the wider school team and contribute positively to the school day.

About You

We are looking for someone who is confident, adaptable and able to take responsibility for a classroom.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
• Previous experience within a school, education, youth or similar setting.
• Confidence managing groups of students and maintaining positive behaviour.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and professional approach.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
• Confidence working independently and using initiative.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• A flexible and adaptable approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people's education and development.
