Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (Temporary to Permanent)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: From £92.60 per day

NextGen Teachers are proud to be supporting a welcoming and supportive primary school in Castleford that is looking to recruit a resilient and compassionate SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with additional needs and managing challenging behaviour within a school setting. The school is eager to meet suitable candidates quickly and will be arranging interviews/trials ASAP.

You will play a key role in supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, helping them to regulate emotions, engage positively with learning, and build confidence both inside and outside of the classroom.

The school prides itself on its nurturing approach, inclusive values, and strong pastoral support, making it a fantastic environment for both staff and pupils.

The Role
* Support pupils with SEN/SEMH needs within the classroom environment
* Support emotional regulation and manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Adapt learning activities to support engagement and progress
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support plans
* Encourage positive social interaction and independence
* Support pupils throughout lessons, transitions, and unstructured times where needed

The Ideal Candidate
* Has previous experience supporting children with SEN/SEMH needs
* Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
* Is patient, resilient, and empathetic
* Can build positive relationships and act as a strong role model
* Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting pupils' wellbeing and progress

Requirements
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, Maths, and Science
* Previous school-based SEN/SEMH experience is essential
* Team Teach training or similar behaviour management training is desirable
