Family Support Worker

Location: Leeds, LS9

Contract: Permanent

Start date: ASAP

Salary: £32k - £33k

We are seeking an experienced Family Support Worker to provide high-quality support, guidance and practical assistance to children and families within a multidisciplinary setting.

The role involves working closely with children, families and partner agencies to support those identified as requiring targeted family support, including families who may be working alongside Children's Social Care. You will engage with children and families experiencing complex circumstances, contributing to assessments and working in partnership with families and professionals to develop and implement support plans that promote positive and sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of the school's Family Support Service in line with the school improvement plan and budget
  • Provide emotional and practical support to pupils and families at home, in school, and within the community
  • Work in partnership with external agencies (e.g., Social Care, Health Services, CAMHS) to support attendance, safeguarding and family wellbeing
  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented
  • Manage an active caseload of pupils and families, maintaining accurate records and case documentation
  • Lead Early Help Assessments and chair Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings where appropriate
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and families to reduce barriers to learning and improve engagement with school
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and senior leaders to assess needs and provide targeted support
  • Deliver targeted interventions and parental workshops to support pupils' development and family engagement
  • Liaise with multi-agency partners to ensure effective support for vulnerable pupils and families
  • Monitor and evaluate interventions, providing reports to the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body
  • Contribute to inclusive practice and share best practice within the school and wider professional networks

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead trained (Desirable)
  • Recent, relevant experience of case work with children, young people and families with complex and multiple needs
  • Experience of working in a school environment with children and young people with SEND
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Full knowledge of up to date policies, codes of practice and legislation
  • Good understanding of child development and the impact of trauma
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
