Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential?

We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with Autism and ADHD. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a child who benefits from consistent, personalised support, helping them develop confidence, independence, and success both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to providing specialist classroom support, you will also play an important role in the school's breakfast club, helping pupils start their day feeling settled, supported, and ready to learn.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient, and committed to making a genuine impact on a child's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a named pupil, ensuring EHCP targets are effectively embedded within daily learning

  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's individual strengths, needs, and learning style

  • Support the development of communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence skills

  • Use appropriate communication techniques and strategies to maximise engagement and understanding

  • Implement consistent behaviour support approaches and emotional wellbeing strategies

  • Monitor, record, and report on progress against EHCP outcomes and individual targets

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to deliver a personalised and consistent support plan

  • Support sensory regulation needs, including movement breaks and tailored interventions where required

  • Provide personal care support with dignity, sensitivity, and respect when needed

  • Assist with breakfast club, creating a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for pupils before the school day begins

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children within Key Stage 2

  • Previous experience working with pupils with Autism and ADHD

  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • The ability to remain calm, consistent, and positive when supporting behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team

  • A commitment to helping every child feel valued, supported, and successful
