Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Do you have experience in education, care, mental health or support work and want to take the next step in your career?
NextGen Teachers are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming specialist SEMH school in Horsham, supporting both primary-aged and secondary-aged pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive school community where staff are valued, pupils are encouraged to reach their potential, and every day brings the chance to make a meaningful difference.
Whether you have previous experience working in a school, supporting young people in care, or helping individuals manage their emotional and mental health, your skills could be a fantastic fit.
The Role - Learning Support Assistant
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teaching staff to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills they need to succeed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting primary or secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional special educational needs (SEN).
- Providing individual, small-group and classroom-based learning support.
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
- Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
- Building trusting relationships with pupils and encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Creating a calm, structured and encouraging learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to meet pupils' individual needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone who understands the importance of patience, consistency and positive relationships when supporting children and young people.
