NextGen Teachers are recruiting passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants for a range of specialist SEN schools and settings across Leeds. We have opportunities available for both full-time placements and flexible supply work, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

These roles are ideal for caring, patient and enthusiastic individuals who want to help children and young people develop their communication, independence, confidence and life skills in a supportive educational environment.

Whether you have previous experience in a specialist SEN school, mainstream education, healthcare or care work, we would love to hear from you!

The Role

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

• Support children and young people with PMLD, complex learning difficulties and communication needs.

• Assist with personal care, including toileting, changing and hygiene routines where required.

• Encourage communication, sensory exploration, engagement and independence.

• Support pupils with physical disabilities and mobility needs, following individual care plans and school procedures.

• Help deliver personalised learning activities suited to pupils' individual abilities and developmental needs.

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals to promote pupil progress.

• Maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, PMLD or complex needs, or a genuine interest in developing within specialist education.

• Is comfortable supporting personal care routines where required.

• Demonstrates patience, empathy and a calm, positive approach.

• Understands the importance of communication, sensory engagement and individualised learning.

• Can build trusting relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a team.

• Is reliable, adaptable and enthusiastic about supporting pupils with additional needs.

Candidates with backgrounds in healthcare, residential care, support work, childcare or education are encouraged to apply.
