NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced specialist SEN school in Croydon. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), working as part of a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience in education, care, or support settings who are looking to build or continue a long-term career in SEND.

• Location: Croydon (Specialist SEN School)
• Pay: £90 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)
• Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
• Contract: Ongoing, long-term opportunity
• Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent, hands-on support to pupils with complex needs, helping them access learning and develop communication and life skills in a structured environment.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD and SLD
• Support sensory learning and engagement activities
• Assist with non-verbal communication methods (e.g. PECS, symbols, assistive technology)
• Provide personal care and mobility support (full training provided)
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
• Observe and respond to individual communication styles and learning needs

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, or Care Worker
• Experience or strong understanding of PMLD, SLD, autism, or complex needs
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable supporting personal care and manual handling
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• Committed to a long-term role supporting students with additional needs
