NextGen Teachers are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Burgess Hill. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact, supporting children and young people with Autism, complex needs, and communication difficulties.

This role is particularly suited to candidates from care, support work, or healthcare backgrounds who are looking to transition into an education setting.

• Location: Burgess Hill (Specialist Provision)
• Pay: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
• Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
• Contract: Temporary to permanent (12-week placement)
• Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Key Responsibilities

You will support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, providing consistent and structured support to help them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

• Provide 1:1 support tailored to individual learning and care needs
• Support pupils with Autism (ASC), complex needs, and SEND
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Create a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
• Build positive relationships to support confidence, communication, and social development
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to adapt learning activities

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or young people (education, care, support work, or healthcare)
• Strong interest in SEND, SEN, or SEMH
• Understanding of Autism or complex needs (desirable)
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Ability to support emotional regulation and recognise behavioural triggers
