SEN Teacher - Permanent Position

Location: HD2 (Huddersfield)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £29,000 - £39,000 (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 8:30-4pm

A supportive and forward-thinking school in the HD2 area is seeking a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from January. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs

• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour challenges, and social development

• Implement trauma-informed and restorative approaches

• Create a consistent, safe, and supportive classroom environment

• Work collaboratively with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies

• Track and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records

• Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

• Experience working with SEMH pupils in a mainstream or specialist setting

• Strong behaviour management using empathetic, reflective practice

• Patience, resilience, and the ability to build trust

• Ability to tailor learning to meet diverse needs
