SEN Teacher - Permanent Position
Location: HD2 (Huddersfield)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £29,000 - £39,000 (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 8:30-4pm
A supportive and forward-thinking school in the HD2 area is seeking a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from January. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour challenges, and social development
Implement trauma-informed and restorative approaches
Create a consistent, safe, and supportive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies
Track and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records
Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with SEMH pupils in a mainstream or specialist setting
Strong behaviour management using empathetic, reflective practice
Patience, resilience, and the ability to build trust
Ability to tailor learning to meet diverse needs
