SEN Cover Supervisor - Full Time, Permanent

NextGen Teachers are proud to be recruiting for an experienced SEN Cover Supervisor on behalf of a highly regarded specialist school in Leeds.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a purpose-built special school that supports pupils aged 5-16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Complex Communication Needs, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The school provides a highly personalised curriculum focused on communication, literacy, numeracy, independence, and life skills, delivered within a modern specialist learning environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across the school by supervising classes during teacher absence, supporting pupils to engage positively with learning activities, and helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise whole classes and small groups during planned and unplanned teacher absence
* Deliver pre-planned learning activities and ensure pupils remain engaged and on task
* Support pupils with a range of special educational needs and adapt approaches to meet individual needs
* Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation strategies
* Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and wider school staff
* Contribute to the safeguarding, wellbeing, and development of all pupils
* Assist with classroom preparation and resource management where required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
* A recognised Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Supporting Teaching & Learning, or a related field
* Previous Cover Supervisor experience within a school setting
* Previous experience working within a specialist SEN school environment
* Experience supporting pupils with Autism, communication needs, learning difficulties, or complex needs
* Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
* A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
