Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant - Full Time | Leeds | ASAP Start | Temp to Perm

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision school in Leeds. This is a full-time, term-time only opportunity starting ASAP, with the potential to transition from a temporary to permanent contract for the right candidate.

This role is based within a dedicated specialist setting that supports secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The provision offers small class sizes, allowing for a more personalised and supportive learning environment.

The Role:

  • Supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs
  • Working closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning support
  • Providing 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Promoting positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
  • Helping create a safe, structured and engaging classroom environment
  • Supporting students both academically and pastorally

  • Location: Leeds
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: Full-time, term time only
  • Contract Type: Temporary with potential for permanent placement
  • Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 (pro rata, dependent on experience)
  • Small class sizes with high staff-to-student ratios
  • Supportive and specialist SEMH environment

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school, care, youth work, or similar)
  • Be calm, resilient and patient
  • Have strong behaviour management skills
