About the Role

NextGen Teachers are proud to be recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English on behalf of a well-regarded specialist school in West Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring senior teacher or deputy head of English who is keen to take on a Head of role in the near future, whilst continuing to inspire students in the classroom.

The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4 and KS5 delivering engaging lessons that spark curiosity and develop students' confidence in reading, writing and communication.

This role would suit a teacher currently working in a mainstream secondary school or those with experience in a SEN or specialist education setting who are ready to step forward professionally.

The Ideal Candidate

NextGen Teachers are looking for candidates who can bring energy, creativity, and innovation to the teaching of English. You will be passionate about helping students explore the richness of language and literature, while ensuring that all learners are supported to achieve their full potential.

Your ability to engage and motivate students, build strong relationships, and adapt teaching approaches will be central to success in this role and be keen to move into a role where you are driving excellence across the team, mentoring, and supporting others within the English department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • Deliver engaging and creative lessons that inspire students' interest in English
  • Support students with individual learning needs and SEN to maximise achievement
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and wider school initiatives
  • Take on leadership responsibilities within the department as part of your professional development
