Location: Kirklees
Contract: Temporary - Full time (Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30), term time only
Start date: January 2026
Salary: £160 - £220 per day (dependent on experience)

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of literature, language, and communication among students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, while making a real difference to their academic progress and personal development.

About the Role

  • Teach high-quality, engaging English lessons that develop students' reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Inspire creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in communication across a range of texts and genres
  • Support students in achieving excellent outcomes and preparing for GCSE and A Level examinations
  • Contribute to the wider English department, sharing good practice and collaborating effectively with colleagues
  • Play an active role in shaping a positive, inclusive, and ambitious school community where every student can thrive

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities
  • Holds (or is willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • Passion for teaching and learning, with the drive to inspire curiosity and stretch students' thinking
  • Understanding of exam requirements and experience in preparing students for assessments
  • High expectations of students, with the ability to motivate and support them to achieve their full potential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Commitment to inclusive practice, ensuring all learners feel supported and able to succeed, regardless of background
  • Collaborative approach, keen to contribute to the wider school community and share best practice
  • Resilience and adaptability, with the capacity to thrive in a busy and rewarding school environment
