HLTA / Cover Supervisor

Location: Wakefield
Contract: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
Hours: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications

NextGen Teachers are currently looking to connect with experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) and Cover Supervisors who are seeking their next opportunity within schools across the Wakefield area.

We work closely with a range of primary, secondary, and specialist provisions and are keen to hear from qualified HLTAs and confident Cover Supervisors looking for temporary, long-term, or permanent positions.

The Role:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Support pupils' learning and engagement across a range of subjects and age groups
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment
• Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups where required
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and senior leaders
• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
• Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or has previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor
• Has experience working within a school environment
• Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Is confident leading lessons and engaging learners
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills
• Is adaptable, professional, and reliable
• Has a genuine passion for supporting young people and education

Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
• Previous school-based experience is essential
• HLTA qualification is desirable for HLTA positions
