Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds
Contract: Temporary to Permanent, Term Time Only, Monday-Friday (8:30am-3:30pm)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £90-£95 per day (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are recruiting an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Leeds supporting pupils across all age groups with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional needs.

You will support pupils through structured routines, visual communication, and sensory strategies, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

The Role

  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC) on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Use visual timetables, sensory strategies, and structured routines
  • Help pupils develop communication, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Provide personal care where required

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or SEN
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Understanding of safeguarding
