NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the heart of Batley, Kirklees.
- Specialist School in Batley
- 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil
- Supporting a visually impaired pupil who is PEG fed
- ASAP start
- Contract until October half term
- £92.60 per day
The Role
The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with additional needs, helping them to access their learning, develop independence and engage positively with the school environment.
The pupil is visually impaired and PEG fed. Previous experience supporting pupils with visual impairment would be highly desirable.
You will work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to ensure the pupil receives consistent, personalised and nurturing support throughout the school day.

Based in the heart of Batley, the school provides specialist education for children aged 5-13 with a diverse range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Trauma-related difficulties
- Anxiety
- ADHD
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
- Communication and Interaction needs
- Cognition and Learning needs
- Specific learning needs

The Role Will Include
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil
- Supporting a pupil who is visually impaired and PEG fed
- Helping the pupil access learning and participate positively in school life
- Supporting social, emotional and developmental needs
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team
- Supporting the pupil with their individual needs and personal development
- Responding appropriately to challenging behaviour where required
About You
We are looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, confident and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or 1:1 Teaching Assistant
- Experience supporting children with SEN and/or challenging behaviour
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Experience supporting children with visual impairment (VI) - desirable
- PEG feeding experience - desirable.
- An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
- Minimum Grade 4/C in GCSE English and Maths
