Salary: £92.00-£95.00 per day, depending on experience

Are you a recent graduate looking to start a rewarding career in education or Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a passionate and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Leeds (LS9).

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or aspiring education professional to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting children with additional and complex needs within a primary school environment.

The Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access their learning and feel confident and included in school.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide patient, nurturing and individualised support, adapting activities and approaches to meet each child's unique needs.

You may be supporting pupils with:

  • Autism
  • Communication difficulties
  • Complex learning needs
  • Additional learning needs
  • Social and emotional needs

Your role will involve helping pupils to:

  • Access and engage with classroom learning
  • Develop confidence and independence
  • Build positive relationships
  • Develop communication and social skills
  • Overcome barriers to learning
  • Participate fully in school life

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is caring, patient, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about working with children.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recent degree in SEN, Education, Psychology, Childhood Studies or a related subject - desirable but not essential
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within education or SEN
  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals - desirable
  • A patient, nurturing and empathetic approach
  • Confidence building positive relationships with children
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
  • Minimum Grade 4/C in GCSE English and Maths
